About

high stakes pokerI will tell you a little bit about myself and the reason for writing this blog. My name is David and I’m 43 years old and a father of two children. I live in a small house in the west of Sweden and started to get an interest in poker a couple of years ago. I guess it was around the time when Chris Moneymaker won World Series of Poker. I think it was in the beginning of the poker boom when I was also caught in the game. I began dreaming about going to Las Vegas in the same way Chris Moneymaker did, by winning a satellite. He paid only a few dollars for his seat in the World Series of Poker since he won it playing online poker. I think it was around $39 and he won $2 500 000! Thats a nice profit.

I then joined several online poker rooms to win my seat in World Series of Poker. But unfortunately I haven’t won it yet. I wouldn’t mind playing a side event, but of course the dream is Main Event. To win the first prize will be a very good start to play more poker 😉 There was a Swedish guy winning the World Series of Poker some time ago. His name was Martin Jacobson and he won a guaranteed prize e for $10 million! I think that’s the largest prize ever in that event.

At least once a month I try to gather some friends playing live poker in my house. We usually are between 7-10 good friends who gathers for some beer and cash game poker. Unfortunately, since we all are middle aged now it sometimes difficult to find the time when raising a family.

Sometimes some of us gather to play online poker as well, both cash game and tournaments. Skype is a great thing in this purpose, because then we don’t have to move ourselves physically but can still chat about the game.

I’m writing this blog since I just like poker. It’s a fair game that can provide big winnings when handling the cards well. Especially when it comes to high stakes. I enjoy watching high stakes but can’t play it myself since I don’t have the cash to do it. But perhaps one day…
